So when we are exercising and looking to get into “neutral spine” are we sure what this means? Here is a really good description of how to find neutral spine for you, rather than just guessing or eyeballing the position.

Once one has this position understood and not just for sitting but standing and lying then one can commence with exercising the core. The core stabilises the trunk and holds it in place whilst the rest of the body is moving, it is also the main antagonist – or primary mover for bending over and twisting and turning the trunk. So at first whilst doing Pilates exercises, maybe one is lying on the back with the core stabilised or braced whilst moving the limbs around. This is translated into everyday life with movement such as walking – then running, then chores such as bending over picking things up and eventually into moving for sport.
